The firm of Martinson & Harder is pleased to contribute to efforts in both Olds and Didsbury aimed at maintaining the historic character of the community, by restoring/refurbishing old buildings in which to house its offices.
The main office of Martinson & Harder is located near “Uptowne Olds” in a historic local landmark, the “Shackleton House”.

This “Arts and Crafts” style house was originally built in 1899 and major renovations were done in 1927 by Fred Shackleton, who remodelled and enlarged the existing family home. In its lifetime, the house has served as family home, a seniors care facility, boarding house, as well as bed & breakfast and tea house. Martinson & Harder’s relationship with the house began in 2000. The interior was given a facelift, with period paint colours and revitalization of the original flooring and woodwork throughout most of the building. We have attempted to restore the original character and charm while still maintaining a functional office.
We are able to utilize the numerous rooms as both offices and separate and confidential client rooms, and our premises offer convenient parking.
In Didsbury, Martinson & Harder is located on the town’s historic main street (20th Ave.). Purchased in 2010, our building was gutted and re-built from the inside out, and finished with brick work in keeping with the heritage look of the majority of the main street buildings.
The first building at this site dates to the early 1900s. Originally a general store, the wood-built structure was destroyed by fire — along with the rest of main street — on New Years’ Day, 1914. Rebuilt as the current cinder block building, it later housed such enterprises as Johnny’s Lucky Dollar grocery store, an auto parts shop, and a farm & ranch supply business.
While the exterior of our building reflects the period charm of Didsbury’s main street, the interior boasts sleek and contemporary finishes that set a professional, welcoming tone for the whole office.
